The Honest Woodcutter Summary

1. Character: Deena, Deena’s wife, Soma, God
2. Setting: Village, Forest, Deena’s house, River
3. Plot

a. Introduction: In a village next to a forest there lived two woodcutters. They were neighbours staying next to each other. Deena, the first woodcutter is a very energetic and honest one. Soma the other woodcutter was a lazy and mean person. Both earn there living by cutting woods in the near by forest.
b. Rising action: Deena went to home by carrying 3 axe and Soma get envy after that he tried to copy Deena action so he can get the golden axe.
c. Falling action: Soma lost his precious axe because of his greedly heart for lying to god about his axe that fall in the river that isn’t his axe he claimed.
d. Result of a situation: Soma returned home without the axe which was his only property. But he had learnt his lesson.

4. Conflict: Soma had lied for axe that he dropped. The god was angry and punished Soma.
5. Theme: Honest
6. Point of view: Omniscient
7. Moral of values: -Honest is the best policy.
                                 -If a person says that they can only tell the truth, and the other can only tell lie.
